The IRS has introduced a new way to pay your federal tax liabilities and even prepay your estimated taxes. It is called the EFTPS system. This is a FREE system from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. You can pay your taxes electronically 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We at Philip Stein & Associates offer all our clients the opportunity to register to use this system and we do NOT CHARGE for our service in setting them up. Using your bank routing number and account number, we register you on line. It takes about two weeks to get a PIN and then you can make a federal payment electronically. The system is really a debit system where we instruct the IRS to debit out of your account the amount of the payment. The system is safe and results in fewer processing errors and best of all – no more worrying about lost checks in the mail. The clients that we have done this for now have peace of mind especially when it comes to paying their estimates. We can set up all the payments for estimates up to a year in advance.
